ISO 14001 : 2004 at SouMac Assembly Services Limited
SouMac Assembly Services commenced trading in January 2004 and provide a subcontract service for conventional and surface mount printed circuit board assemblies. They operate in the high-technology, high-quality, low-quantity market-place and were certified to ISO 9001 in July 2004.
The requirement was to implement an environmental management system (EMS) and achieve certification to ISO 14001 : 2004. It was agreed to introduce an Integrated Management System (IMS) based on PAS 99 to encompass ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
I managed the complete project, taking a total of 12 days of my time and significant milestones in the consultancy project are as follows:
April 2008 Initial Environmental Review conducted
May 2008 Register of Environmental Aspects & Impacts compiled
June 2008 Register of Legislation compiled
February 2009 Integrated Management System (IMS) Manual published
March 2009 EMS document review by URS (on-site)
May 2009 EMS internal audit conducted
May 2009 Management Review
June 2009 Site plans produced
June 2009 Staff training
August 2009 On-site assessment by URS resulted in registration being recommended to ISO 14001 with no nonconformities observed.
